"Concept" of Pride

Post  Temo on Tue Jan 18, 2011 10:45 am

[[Just a simple concept thing for anybody that stumbles on the area Temo or Katsu are hiding away for a while. silent ]]

Karu Forest was a wide, open, and relatively peaceful wilderness with a warm climate all year round. It was far away from civilization, away from conflicts between races, internal struggles of civilizations, psychopaths out to cause mayhem and other unsavory elements that had found their way into Erinn...it was a perfect little sanctuary to be born in. Ever since relocating there with Katsu during her pregnancy, he had been busy turning the area about the Giants' Spring into a cozy little camp. Houses didn't suit his wife aside from use as temporary rest stops, and honestly this was no different; but at least she would be more comfortable here than she was in the average building. It was also nice to have a place she could always return to that wasn't far at all from the wilderness she loved - especially since it was a part of it.

Temo had to thank Brother Hyuponia for bringing that large stock in supplies on such short notice; and the horse and wagon to carry it all helped in ways he had not even thought of. They proved to be a great help in setting things up. Everything was put together primarily with what Temo learned in his earlier years of studying alchemy. Low-grade ice mines had been set in areas about them - not because he could not make anything better, but simply because they were just meant to scare off wild animals rather than cause them harm. Posts had been set up in a manner similar to barrier spikes, set so that they integrated with the surroundings to create a secure encloser. Even in a small area such as that though, fallen logs and hollows made it a little adventure in itself. She was bound to take some enjoyment in that; and the borders of this encampment were just shy of the Giants' Spring, so there was that familiar landmark to fall back on as well.

The landmark itself turned out to be rather enjoyable for brushing up on the alchemy and archaeology Temo studied over the years (or at least years in the terms of Milletians). Seeing as nobody else may have bothered with the ruins, he took it upon himself to clean them up a little - weed the overgrowth on it, give a little dusting and polishing...things that probably would have gone unnoticed after he and Katsu moved on and time weighed down on it again. The pillars surrounding the statue, which seemed to collect rain, were the best attraction about it to Temo. With water crystals supplied by Brother, he was able to use alchemy to not only create a nearby and fresh water supply, but turn the pillars it was all stored in into tiny geysers that added a bit more life to the area.

One minor adjustment to the final pillar...and done. They all had a tilt to them that made it a little difficult to keep water stored that way; but in the end he was able to angle them toward one another. Instead of wasting water, geysers actually jumped from pillar to pillar now, almost seeming to dance under rays of light that filtered through treetops, which in turn filled the area with glittering reflections. Temo hadn't seen such beauty in Erinn anywhere but in Katsu herself. He was quite surprised it was something he crafted himself and while wiping the sweat from his brow, found himself swelling with the first bit of pride he'd ever had in his life over it. Sweat - one of the things he learned to grow annoyed with among the many changes his body had undergone alongside his returning memories. However at this moment, he felt pride in that as well. It meant that he worked hard and for it - for once - had something to show that felt worth it all. He wondered if Katsu or his child would feel anything toward it too...

((Hyu: ...It's things like this that keep me going, really. Knowing I've had a hand makes bearing other burdens much less tiresome. -Nods in approval.- ))
